About Me
My name is Tom Barvick, and I am a senior at University of New Haven studying Music and Sound Recording. I grew up in Arlington, MA, a town just outside of Cambridge and Boston. I have always had a passion for music. I learned to play the drums in middle school, then I taught myself guitar, bass, and sort of how to sing. I started writing songs and playing shows with my band all around New England. I also fell in love with producing music, being the one of the recording side of the studio, rather than the performer.
All of these factors led to me furthering my music education and career at the University of New Haven. Being at UNH allows me to collaborate with other musicians. I formed a band while down here, and we have played shows around CT, NY, NJ and MA on weekends while at school. Studying at UNH also allows me to meet fellow musicians who need to record their music, and my love of music production, and the classes I have taken, allow me to work with them and reach a final product everyone is proud of! These skills have already allowed me to do some professional work outside of school. I have been hired to mix and master some songs for various artists around the USA, and even some internationally. I plan on pursuing music production as a career, hoping to work in a studio, and possibly own one some day.
Aside from my main passion of music, I really like playing sports. I played baseball and soccer my whole life until high school, when a shoulder injury took me out of commission. I was devastated at the time, but when I no longer had sports practices every day after school, I had a lot more time to devote to music. I also am a big food guy. I always like trying new restaurants, new foods, new drinks, etc. I also love fast food. It doesn't have to be fancy to be awesome. Taco Bell is the best.
